Brick

Man has used brick for building purpose for thousands of years. Bricks date back to 7000 BC, which makes them one of the oldest known building materials. They were discovered in southern Turkey at the site of an ancient settlement around the city of Jericho.

Today brick is still the preferred building facades because of the versatility, beauty, and longevity. New York City is one of the largest brick markets in the world and has showcased many prominent buildings with brick masonry design.

Architectural CMU's

One of the most significant architectural benefits of designing with concrete masonry is its versatility – the finished appearance of a concrete masonry wall can be varied with the unit size, shape, color and texture. The term “architectural concrete masonry units” typically is used to describe units displaying any one of several surface finishes that affects the texture of the unit, allowing the structural wall and finished surface to be installed in a single step. Architectural concrete masonry units are used for interior and exterior walls, partitions, terrace walls, and other enclosures. Some units are available with the same treatment or pattern on both faces, to serve as both exterior and interior finish wall material, increasing both the economic and aesthetic advantages.

Color Mortars

While color mortar represents only a small portion of the total wall area in masonry construction (approximately 10-20 percent pending masonry unit size), its influence on the performance and aesthetics of a wall is significant. Mortar serves many important functions: it bonds units together into an integral structural assembly, seals joints against penetration by air and moisture, accommodates small movements within a wall, accommodates slight differences between unit sizes and bonds to joint reinforcement, ties and anchors so that all elements perform as an assembly.

Colored mortar can make a big impact on the aesthetics of a project, as well as mortar joint style. Color mortar emphasizes and highlights the various color characteristics of brick while the application, or joint style, will accentuate the lines and textural detail of the brick. Colored mortar is an architectural vision that is sometimes overlooked.

Glenwood colored mortars are engineered for maximum performance and consistency in the field. Each factory pre-blended batch is crafted using the highest quality ingredients and iron oxide pigments. This provides a consistent product and allows the mason to create a durable and beautiful project.

Extended Relieving Angles by Fero

.

FERO FAST™ THERMAL BRACKETS are our proprietary structural, thermally-broken shelf angle support system, allowing for continuous insulation behind the shelf angle. This system offsets the shelf angle from the structural backing and positions the shelf angle to remain fully outboard of the insulation. Our FAST Thermal Brackets have a proprietary hole pattern in the flanges to reduce overall thermal transmittance through the bracket without compromising load capacity. FAST Thermal Brackets can be manufactured in any size to accommodate ALL CAVITY WIDTHS

Cast Stone

Cast stone or reconstructed stone is a highly refined architectural precast concrete masonry unit intended to simulate natural-cut stone. It is used for architectural features: trim, or ornament; facing buildings or other structures; statuary; and for garden ornaments. Cast stone can be made from white and/or grey cements, manufactured or natural sands, crushed stone or natural gravels, and colored with mineral coloring pigments. Cast stone may replace such common natural building stones as limestone, brownstone, sandstone, bluestone, granite, slate, coral, and travertine.

Granite and Limestone

Granite is a common type of felsic intrusive igneous rock that is granular and phaneritic in texture. The word "granite" comes from the Latin granum, a grain, in reference to the coarse-grained structure of such a holocrystalline rock. Granite is more than just a durable stone. It's beautiful, too. Its coloration can range from pink to grey and because it can contain elements of a variety of minerals, there is a diversity and subtlety to its shading.

Limestone is a carbonate sedimentary rock that is often composed of the skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as coral, foraminifera. Its major materials are the minerals calcite and aragonite, which are different crystal forms of calcium carbonate.

Filigree Precast Concrete Deck

Welcome to the Mid-State division of Filigree Systems, Inc. in Cranbury, New Jersey. The Filigree method is a process for construction of concrete decks that successfully integrates "factory precast" and field-construction technologies. This is accomplished by constructing such decks from two interconnected concrete placements, one made in a facto other done in the field. The Filigree Wideslab method has a 40 year success record as an efficient and economic construction process that results in safe and lasting structures. Filigree construction and design is in full compliance with the former BOCA and current ACI and ICC building codes.
